In some edition (2013-2015), the competition has been divided into two distinct sections reserved for artists under or over 40 years of age. Each section has been awarded a Faenza Prize.
59th Faenza Prize (2015)
Motivation
The project "Interno 8 - La fleur coupée" represents a story linked to a very current social and political dimension. The female figure that emerges in fragmented images, cut, turned upside down, and imprinted on 2000 tiles, is represented through her fragility and intimacy, narrated through opposing dynamics that mix images with a marked emotional perspective. The work effectively manages the different languages of contemporaneity such as performance, photography, sound and environmental installation, structuring a complex narrative stratification that takes the form of a ceramic research of an experimental nature where the set of small tiles sublimates the figuration of the single detail in an overall abstraction.
58th Faenza Prize (2013)
Motivation
The purity of the work Avis, an excellent result between essentiality and refinement, focuses the deepness and maturity of the research of the Finnish artist. She found inspiration in the primordial shape of the vessel and found an effective synthesis between fragility and strenght, between formal and informal.
