My works are expressed through translucency which is one of the ceramic material properties. When white porcelain is made thinly and fired at high temperature, it can acquire the effect of translucency. The thinner the porcelain is, the higher translucent effect it gets.

I mixed translucent clay with opaque one like marbling, and threw the marbled clay on a wheel, then trimmed it in order to get the thickness which is around 1mm.

The lamp as a result of my handwork produces soft translucency. With front light, opaque clay part looks whiter than translucent part. But with back light or when the lamp lights up, opaque clay part becomes a shadow. This paradoxical effect of material is achieved through my experiment with clay. I am making various everyday objects using that kind of translucent effects. This lamp series is one of them.
