Technique: This work utilizes multiple processes and materials, including a slip cast form, a hand-built porcelain form, resin poured into ceramic forms, and a recycled ceramic base. With our recycled ceramics materials, we employ a unique technique where we synthesize the geologic process. In this process, the byproducts of ceramic studio production are recycled into geologic strata by fusing together in the kiln. We create a ceramic shell, line it with a glass release, fill the shell with the recycled materials, and then fire it together in the kiln.

L’opera affronta il passaggio del tempo in relazione alla durata della vita umana. La dimensione dell’opera coinvolge direttamente il corpo dell’osservatore: il processo geologico, la cristallizzazione di una colata, la fragilità. Materiali e processi propongono la contemplazione del proprio tempo.
The work faces the passage of time in relationship to a human lifespan. The scale of the piece directly implicates the viewer body: the geologic process, the frozen moment of a liquid pouring, the fragility. The materials and processes ask the viewer to contemplate their own timeframe
