Materia e tecnica: Procelain, Cobalt, glaze podwer, glass, colorpigment

Tecnica: I draw all cups individually, change their shapes and decorate like mass production. After firing each cup at 1230 degrees, they are all put into a large self-made box with a large amount of feldspar, glaze powder, and glass fragments. The oxidation firing 1230 is held at a temperature for several hours. Then open the kiln to break the outside bowl, dig and clean the works. I really like the luster and transparency of the glaze, as well as the texture left by the heat during the firing process. I think that every angle and every crack has its own beauty and it is worthy of our appreciation.

Note: It is a very heavy solid work.

Anno di completamento: 2018

I think the “excavating process” and” discovery moments” of ancient animal and plant fossils are full of charm. I want to explore the similar beautiful in making ceramics arts. In the process of creating ceramics, we must use the kiln and fire to change the nature of the soil. The time and energy are sealed inside of the pieces at the instant moment during high temperature firing process. It’s just like the animals and plants gradually change in the high pressure and high temperature underground after centuries. The bone or leaves are replaces with crystallization and mineral, they became a fossil of eternal beauty. During the process of excavating fossils, we have a lot of excitement of unknowns. I think that the surprising process is very interesting and similar to the moment when we open the kiln door. In some meaning, open the kiln door is always full of surprise and happiness. Therefore, I want to recreate the moment of excavation of fossils with making my own ceramic arts. I am not simply imitating the original creatures in this world, but using the techniques of ceramic-art and my own artistic senses to create original abstract sculptures. Then the work was buried in clay powder and glaze powder to make a huge fossil. In order to excavate “my own fossils”I use the scorpion and chisel to knock the epidermis bit by bit. Every moment is filled with excitement and surprise. I can experience the traces of flame by savoring the flow of crystal glaze, and enjoy the works born in my own hands. Admire the energy of earth and flame after I baptize the piece with water. Every angle is unique and cannot be remake again. About this series of works, the maim concept is a fantasy wondering of if the industrial production was buried underground for hundred years, will itself rebirth as a creature or replaced by minerals like animal wreckage or plantation. Or the industrial wares will even evolve and grow into a new biological species.
